PayMaya is now Maya, launches digital banking service

Mobile wallet app PayMaya has rebranded to Maya to reflect its expansion beyond e-wallet and payment services through integrating a digital bank, the Maya Bank, and cryptocurrency trading feature within its app.


Users can open a savings account with a 6% introductory interest rate through the Maya Bank. This initial offer is available until August 31, 2022. Additionally, users can obtain credit worth up to PHP 15,000.

Moreover, Maya, dubbed an all-in-one money app, offers a cryptocurrency feature that allows users to buy, sell, and hold crypto for as low as 1 Peso. Some of the cryptocurrencies available in the app are BTC (Bitcoin), DOT (Polkadot), ETH (Ethereum), LINK (Chainlink), MATIC (Polygon), QNT (Quant), SOL (Solana), UNI (Uniswap), USDT (Tether), and ADA (Cardano).

The finance app still has the core e-wallet features, such as money transfer, load purchase, and bill payments.

In a statement, Shailesh Baidwan, President of PayMaya, and Co-Founder and Board Member of Maya Bank, said they "want to enable Filipinos to make bolder choices with their money and seize opportunities – big and small."

Baidwan also added that they are "combining the power of an innovative wallet and a secure, progressive digital banking experience powered by BSP-licensed Maya Bank to transform how Filipinos experience money."
