Google Pixel Buds Pro with active noise cancellation revealed

Tech giant Google has announced its latest in-ear truly wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds, the Pixel Buds Pro. It is designed as a direct competitor against Apple's AirPods Pro.

The main highlights of Google Pixel Buds Pro are active noise cancellation, transparency mode, multipoint Bluetooth connectivity, and IPX4 water resistance rating.

The wireless earbuds' active noise cancellation (ANC) feature is built with a custom 6-core audio chip, utilizing Google-developed algorithms to cancel out the noise. Pixel Buds Pro also uses a function called Silent Seal that adapts to the shape of your ears to optimize noise cancellation.

The wireless earphones' 11mm driver is custom-designed. Volume EQ modifies the audio tuning automatically, dependent on the volume level. In addition, a 5-band EQ allows you to personalize the sound further.

The transparency mode allows ambient sound to enter, enabling you to hear vital audio cues without removing your headphones.

Google claims the Pixel Buds Pro can be used continuously for 7 hours when ANC is activated and 11 hours when ANC is disabled. With the charging case, users get a total of 20 hours with ANC and 31 hours without ANC. Additionally, the case supports wireless charging.

When it comes to comfortability, Google says that the Pixel Buds Pro has pressure sensors that actively "measure the pressure in your ear canal," so the earbuds can relieve them to keep them comfortable.

Later in the year, Pixel Buds Pro will receive an update that adds spatial audio support. On compatible Pixel phones, users can experience surround sound while watching spatial audio content.

Other specs include touch controls, a voice accelerometer, multipoint connectivity, beamforming microphones, wind-blocking mesh covers, and hands-free Google Assistant support with real-time translation. Google Pixel Buds Pro has IPX4 water resistance, and the case is IPX2.
