Video game company Epic Games awarded an Epic MegaGrant to Project Xandata, the first-ever competitive first-person shooter (FPS) game developed in the Philippines and powered by Epic's Unreal Engine.
Epic MegaGrants is a 100 million dollar program designed by Epic Games to help game developers, animators, creators, enterprise professionals, students, and educators create amazing things with Unreal Engine or improve open-source capabilities for the 3D graphics community.
Gene Gacho, the creator of Project Xandata and the Technical Director at Secret 6, stated that Unreal Engine was a "key part" in bringing the game to life. Regarding the creation of first-person shooters, they "don't think anything out there matches Unreal."
The support will aid the Secret 6 team in its ongoing effort to develop and enhance this Filipino-made game.
Project Xandata was released on March 26, 2022, and is now available on Steam in Early Access.
Pinoy FPS title "Project Xandata" is a skill-based, 3v3 first-person shooter with extensive customization, sci-fi and fantasy elements, and a rapid pace.
Players will take the role of "Xandat," a warrior armed with MagiTech, an ancient technology that allows them to wield elemental power.
